Join the California Central Valley Flood Control Association at their Flood Forum. States on the east coast brace for the worst every hurricane season, but now residents in inland communities have experienced the deadly and damaging effects of flooding as tropical storm Helene hammered them with unprecedented rain. The ferocity of these floodwaters swept people, homes, and entire communities away. The keynote speaker for this year’s CA Central Valley Flood Control Association Flood Forum is an expert on emergency response, preparedness, flood insurance, and mitigations measures that reduce the risk of flooding. Roy Wright will talk about the future of flood risk, flood risk data, and what is possible to address in the area of flood insurance. Mr. Wright is the President and CEO of the Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety, located in Richburg, South Carolina. He previously served at FEMA as the chief executive of the National Flood Insurance Program, led the agency’s Federal Insurance and Mitigation Administration, and directed resilience programs addressing earthquake, fire, flood, and wind risks.
