The California Water Law Symposium is a collaborative student-run event that consistently brings together leading minds in water law to discuss California’s critical water issues. This year, the symposium is led by the University of San Francisco School of Law. Participant schools include University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law; UC College of the Law, San Francisco; UC Berkeley School of Law; Golden Gate University School of Law; Stanford Law School, and UC Davis School of Law.

This year, we are excited to celebrate the 20th Symposium, which will take place on February 24th, 2024, at USF’s main campus in the City of San Francisco.

The 2024 WLS will host four panels on pressing water law issues, for which MCLE will be available for purchase:

  1. Klamath Dam Removal: Stakeholders, Science, and Sustainability
  2. Water Rights Enforcement
  3. Water Rights: Clarifying the 2023 Water Board’s Arrowhead Spring Order
  4. SGMA: A Decade in Review

Additionally, and unique to this year’s symposium, there are two additional sessions available:

  1. Water Law Primer – framing the issues of the panels to follow (MCLE available)
  2. Racial Equity Discussion – how can we improve racial equity in the water law bar?

The event will have a total of 5.75 MCLE credits available for attendees.
